In a remarkable effort to promote literacy and education, the Joseph F. Smith Library set out on a mission to donate 40,000 books to the Northern Mariana Islands. This meaningful project, launched last November, was made possible through a collaborative partnership between the BYU–Hawaii Library, Senator Glenn Wakai of Hawaii, and the Micronesian community.
On Monday, January 20, two shipping containers filled with library furniture, shelves, and books arrived in Saipan. The materials are set to enrich the libraries across the island, providing much-needed resources to support learning and foster a love of reading.
This initiative highlights the shared commitment of all involved to empower communities through knowledge and education. The Joseph F. Smith Library is proud to play a role in expanding access to valuable resources for the people of the Northern Mariana Islands.
