Important Notice: Temporary Increase in Noise Levels on the 2nd Floor of the Library

Dear BYUH Students and Faculty,

We are informing you about a temporary increase in noise levels on the 2nd floor of the library over the next few weeks. This is due to an ongoing project where we are carefully packing and boxing books to optimize our library space. We recognize the importance of a quiet study environment and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Here’s what you need to know:

Why the Noise?

We are relocating and packing books on the 2nd floor to continue improving our library resources and organization. This task involves moving, sorting, and carefully boxing many materials. As a result, you may notice sounds from:

  • Cart movement as we transport books,
  • Packing materials being set up and moved,
  • Shelving adjustments as staff shift book locations.

The noise level may vary throughout the day as our library team works efficiently to complete the task as quickly as possible.

What to Expect

The project will be ongoing for the next few weeks, and during this time, noise on the 2nd floor will fluctuate. We are committed to minimizing disruptions, but please anticipate some increased sound levels, especially during peak work hours.

Tips for a Quiet Study Environment

For those seeking a quieter space for studying, we encourage you to consider the following options within the library:

  • Alternate Floors: The 1st floor and Library Instruction Room on the 2nd floor remain available and should be less impacted by this temporary project.
  • Group Study Rooms: Reservable group study rooms may offer a quieter, enclosed environment for those who want a more focused group study setting.
  • Noise-Canceling Headphones: Headphones might help reduce any distractions from packing activities.
