Betty Yoshiko Uehara, 65, of Honolulu, died Jan. 13, 1995.  She was born in Waianae, Oahu and was a retired cashier/secretary for Columbia Inn and member of Club Motobu.Survived by husband, George; sons, Frank K., Sidney T. and Chester I.; daughters, Judith K. Koza and Mrs. Wayne (Cynthia A.) Hakikawa; six grandchildren; brothers, Jason G. and Ernest G. Maeshiro; sisters, Mrs. Robert (Dorothy Y.) Tamashiro, BeatriceS. Kaneshiro and Mildren M. Moya Riu Uehara, 84, of Hilo, died Jan. 14, 1995.  She was born in Aiea and was the retired proprietress of  the former Moya’s Lunch Shop in Waiaku and member of Honpa Kongwanji Mission.  Survived by daughters, Margaret Maeda, Jean Kimura, Patsy Makaea and Elsie Kamiyama; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Edith Takamori of California, Asako Dinoz, Buny Hatanaka and Take Itagaki[Adv Jan. 22, 1995]


Jack H. Ujimori, 80, of Honolulu, died Feb. 2, 1995.  He was born in Sprecklesville, Maui, was a self-employed real estate broker, and a member of Higashi Hongwanji and Kumamoto Kenjin Kai. Survived by wife, Harume;  sons, Stanley T., Leroy K. and Warren S.; daughter, Mrs. Allen (Karen M.) Nii; brother, Walter H.; sisters, Mrs. Toshio (Florence H.) Kaichi, Mrs. Bob (Myrna A.) Afuso and  Mrs. Ike (Charlotte T.) Abe, both ofCalifornia; and eight grandchildren.[Adv Feb. 6, 1995]


Justina Ulep, 75, of Waialua, died, Jan. 1, 1995.  She was born May 5, 1919 in San Nicolas, Ilocso Norte, the Philippines.  Survived by daughter, Mrs. Raymond (Janie) Burke; sons, Patrick (Sandy)  of Maui, Thomas (Sally), Maximo and Braulio (Leona); 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.Burial: Valley of the Temples.  [Adv Jan. 11, 1995]


Takie “Kay” Urasaki, 77, of Honolulu and formerly of Hilo, died Jan. 3, 1995.  She was born in Waipahu and was a retired dietician in Maluhia Hospital.  She was a member of the Honolulu Christian Church. Survived by sons, Ronale L. and Dann G.; daughters, Mrs. Donald (Haroldeen) Wakida and Mrs. Alexander (Marian) Thropp of Kona; nine grandchildren; sisters, Mrs. Masayo Doi, Mrs. Takako “Elaine” Kakutani, Mrs. Katsue Nunokawa, and Mrs. Seiji (Teruko “Terry”) Kondo.[Adv Jan. 8, 1995]


John H. Urmenita of Wahiawa died Dec. 9, 1995 in Wahiawa General Hospital. Urmenita, 91, was born in Mag­singal, Ilocos Sur, the Philippines. He is survived by wife Luisa L.; son Richard Y.; daughter Elizabeth Cabanatuan; sister Guillerma Viloria; and three grandchildren. Burial: Mililani Memorial Park. Casual attire.  [SB 04/01/1996]


Melvyn Tatsuro Ushijima, 71, of Honolulu, died Jan. 5, 1995 in Kuakini Medical Center.  He was born March 5, 1923 in Makua Valley, Waianae and was a retired barber for Homes and Narver Inc., Johnson Island.  He was also a veteran who fought with the 42nd Regiment and was a member of the Veteran of Foreign Wars, Post #2875.  Survived by son, Gregg K.; daughter, Mrs. Clyde  T. (Holly Rumi) Kaneshiro; five grandchildren; brothers Stanley Seiji (Kay) of Hilo, Charles Akira (Alice) of Kawaihae, Tetsuro “Ford” (Helene); sisters, Mrs. Bob (Alice Ayako) Koochi, Mrs. Richard (Helen Emiko) Okamoto, Mrs. Bobby (Aileen) Nakagaki, Mrs. Yutaka (BetsySachiko) Watanabe.Inurnment: National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific[Adv Jan. 10, 1995]


Gilber K. Uyeda, 74, of Honolulu, died Jan. 6, 1995. He was born in Kaneohe, and was a retired aluminum furniture fabricator.  Survived by wife, Janet M.; son, Miles M.; daughter, Mrs. Alban (Faith H.) Oshiro;brothers, Michael M.,Stanley T. and KennethY. of California; sister, Mrs. David (Greta T.) Nakao; and six grandchildren. [Adv Jan. 27, 1995]


Lillian Matsuko Uyeda, 82, of Honolulu,  died Jan. 2, 1995.  She was born in Honolulu and was a retiredassistant treasurer for the Fort Shafter Federal Credit Union.  She was a member of Sacred Heart Church, St. Francis Xavier Club.She served as treasurer for the McCully Senior Citizen’s Club.  Survived by husband,  Francis Y.; daughters,  Mrs. Gordon (Jean A.) Leong and Mrs. Brian (Eloise M.)  Yano; three grandchildren;  five great-grandsons.


Richard Masao Uyehara, 83, of Waialua, died Feb. 13, 1995. He was born in Lihue, Kauai, and was a retired insurance agent.Survived by wife, Mitsuko J.; daughters, Mrs. Donald T. (Carol E.) Koga, Mrs. George Y. (Judith F.) Nakata; sister, KimikoHata; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. [Adv Feb. 18, 1995]


Charles Tadashi Uyematsu, 77, of Ewa Beach, died Feb. 20, 1995 in Ewa Beach.  He was born March 30, 1917 in Lihue, Kauai, and was a member of the carpenter’s union. Survived by wife, Betty F.; sons, Steven (Diana), Patrick (Debra), Peter (Cheryl), John M. (Aloha) and Robert (Gail); daughters, Mrs. Richard (Charlotte) Ahif, Mrs. Tony (Rosemary) Hartmann of Wyoming, Mrs. Danilo (Christine) Baron and Mrs. Ted (Kathleen)Uyehara; brothers, Clarance of CA, Albert of Okinawa and George of CA; sisters, Mrs. Kineu Seshiki and Mrs Alice Inomoto, both of Kauai, Mrs. Donald (Helen)McKay, Mrs. Shiro (Dora) Kurasaki of CA; 17 grandchildren and three-great-grandchildren.
