We are pleased to share that our recent Constitution Day event, held on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, has been recognized by the Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP). Just three days after the event, we were featured on the FDLP website, with one of our event photos displayed on the cover of their news alert.
A highlight of the event was the active participation of our international students, who led the booth with great enthusiasm. Students from India, Kiribati, South Africa, and the Philippines took the lead, bringing a global perspective to the celebration of a quintessentially American document. We were also fortunate to have Miriam Palmer, our sole American volunteer, whose contributions were invaluable in ensuring the success of the event.
The event saw robust participation, with around 300 students attending and actively engaging in the activities. We distributed approximately 240 pocket-sized U.S. Constitution booklets to students, and about 50 attendees stopped by our photo booth to capture moments from the event.
In addition to the main activities, children of faculty and staff members joined in by watching educational videos about the U.S. Constitution on a TV we set up down the hallway. Their engagement further enriched the spirit of the event, making it a true community-wide experience.
This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our technical services team, our international student volunteers, and Miriam Palmer. We extend our sincere gratitude to everyone involved in making this Constitution Day celebration a memorable and impactful experience.
