Naomi Kuulei Vaielua, 47, of Honolulu, died Jan. 20, 1995.  She was born in Honolulu and worked in the cafeteria at Kaiulani Elementary School.  Survived by sons, John and Samuel; daughter, Vivian; mother, Miriam Hanawahine; brother, Samuel Hanawahine; sisters, Sunrise Monterde and Hanna Santiago; a grandchild. Lucia Barrios Valderama, 94, of Wahiawa, died Jan. 9, 1995. She was born Nov. 20, 1900 in San Juan, Ilocos Sol, the Philippines and was a member of Our Lady of Sorrow Church. Survived by, sons, Albaro (Maria),  Jose (Lolita) of Hilo; daughters, Mrs. Macario (Martina) Marinias, Mrs. Juan (Sofronia) Villamar, Catherina B.; 19 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren. Ludivina S. Valdez of Waipahu died Dec. 12, 1995 in Queen’s Hospital.Valdez, 46, was born in Luna, La Union, the Philippines.  She is survived by husband Lorenzo S.; son Jarin E.; daughters Jollette E. and Juby E.; brother Dionisio Espiritu; sisters Josefina Agoot and Flaviana Espiritu. Theodore Evangelista Valdez Jr., 64, of Honolulu, died Feb. 18, 1995.  He was born in Honolulu.  He retired from Young Brothers  after 31 years of service. He was a member of the American Legion.Survived by wife, Carol K. Mahoe Valdez; brothers, Stanley and Rudy; sisters, Mrs. David (Alice) Kea and Mrs. Segundo (Marlene) Facuri. Graciano  Valencia, 89, of Laupahoehoe, Hawaii, died Jan. 16, 1995.  He was born in Dingras, Ilocos Norte, the Philippine and was a retired tractor driver for the former Hamakua Sugar Co.He belonged to Laupahoehoe Senior Citizens.  Survived by sons, Raymond, Stanley of Hilo, Alex of Honolulu, Eugene “Gene” , Roger and Paul;  daughter, Lorraine Ballado of Hilo; 16 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren.  Burial: Ookala Catholic Church Cemetery.  {Adv Jan. 18, 1995]

 

Mele Fotu Varameilaio, 80, of Kaneohe died Jan. 2, 1995.  She was born in Tonga and was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church Tongan Congregation and Tongan Community.Survived by daughter, Salome Toaila Tuouniua; son, Sione Tupoutoa Fotu; 23 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren.  Burial: Hawaiian Memorial Park.  [Adv Jan. 7, 1995]

 

Manuel “Speed” Vasconcellos, aretired plumber, died Friday, Dec 29, 1995 in the Life Care Center of Hilo. Vasconcellos, 91, was born in Paauilo, Hawaii. He is survived by brothers John "Johnny" and Dan­iel; and sisters Gussie Morgado, Lucy Cypriano, Hilda Delima, Connie Garcia and Matilda Howery. Burial: Homelani Memorial Park[SB 04/01/1996]

 

George Teixeira Vaspra Jr.,     73, of Waialua, died Jan. 28, 1995. He was born August 30, 1921 in Wailuku, Maui, and retired from Hawaiian Bitumuls Co. after 35 years of service.He was a member of the Operating Engineers Local Union 3. Survived by sisters, Mrs. John (Margaret) Nascimento of Nevada, Mrs. Manuel (Violet) Nascimento and Mrs. Francis (Eleanor) Benedict, Mrs. Jacqueline M. Gouveia. David Velasco, 61, of Kaneohe died Jan. 13, 1995 at Kaiser Foundation Hospital.  He was born May 15, 1933 in Houston, TX and was a retired ship’s serviceman first class with the U.S. Navy. Peggy Emiko Ventura, 76, of Aiea, died Jan. 7, 1995.  She was born in Paauilo, Hawaii and was a member of the Jehovah’s Witnesses, Aiea Kingdom Hall.  Survived by husband,  Alfred V.; daughter, Theresa Lum; sons, George Kimura and Alton Ventura; sister, Tsukie Imaizumi; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren. Jose Sonny” M.Vera Cruz Sr., 72, of Honolulu, died Jan. 30, 1995. He was born in Honolulu and was a retired Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard Shop 41  boilermaker.  He paddled for Hui Nalu Canoe Club and coached Haleakala  Club. Antone “Tony  Vierra Jr., 74, of Wahiawa, diedFeb. 15, 1995 in Honolulu.  He was born Dec. 15, 1920 in Waialua and retired as fire captain from the Federal Fire Department at Schoffield Barracks in 1972.He held membership in the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Catholic Church.
